Wow, I let this topic series die didn’t I? Well we shall pick it up again and try to finish it.
You should not lie, nor give false testimony before your Elders, or those who are of the Wicca — for liars are fools, and a menace unto themselves, and to the Wicca. Be truthful in all your works and deeds, especially within the Circle, for what you say within the presence of the Gods becomes manifest.
I have a truly deep hatred for lies. I get angry beyond words at even simple little ‘white lies’ and many cannot understand this. It’s a matter of honor for me, honor is something of great value that is also easily destroyed. One of the most important parts of this ‘law’ is the mention of what you say in the the presence of the Gods. Well in my belief the Gods are every where, so you can see my absolute belief in honesty.
Do I lie? Of course I do, but my lie preference is a lie of omission. White lies may be something like saying your haircut looks nice when you feel otherwise. I would simply not make a comment either way about the new ‘do’ unless brought up to me and then it would amount to simple acknowledgement.
One of the things I am bothered by lies the most is how many people lie and how frequently, and often in such a casual manner. It feels like they have no respect for themselves that they would degrade themselves so carelessly. They think so little of themselves that there word is not good even to themselves.
I’m not sure why people find it so easy to lie, if they have no respect for themselves or others, but it’s unfortunate. I’ve often wondered if its becoming a sort of pathological issue-do they realize they’re lying and just not care?
